All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Cisco, and NASSCOM FutureSkills have announced virtual internships opportunities for over 20,000 undergraduate students. Those pursuing their undergraduate degree and are in their second and third year can apply for this virtual internship program.
The process of the internship includes a self-paced online course, after which the candidates can apply for internship opportunities at Cisco. Talking about this one-of-its-kind internship programme, Professor Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe, chairman of, AICTE said, “Unless students get internship opportunities, industries can’t expect trained talent. Hard-core exposure and industry internships are a must,”.
According to Nasscom, in Phase 1 of virtual internships, nearly 20,000 students will be offered the opportunity on cybersecurity, and during phase 2, internship opportunities on new skills will be included. The focus of this initiative is to increase the employability potential of students.
Dr Chandrasekhar Buddha, CEO AICTE said, “The aim of this internship program is to increase the employability of fresh graduates through ‘learning by doing’. We want our students to be equipped with industry-ready skills as soon as they walk out of the college.”
Important Details of the Virtual Internship Programme

AICTE will be responsible for the communication regarding the internship opportunity among colleges or institutions.
NetCad partners will amplify communication.
Interested and eligible students will be required to register on the AICTE Internship Portal.
Also, they are required to enrol for NetCad courses either through college or the FutureSkills Prime portal.
After this, a quiz will be conducted by NetCad partners and they will release a certificate with AICTE and FS Prime logo.
