HCLTech, one of the few large IT companies that onboarded all the freshers it hired in FY23, is looking to keep the campus recruitment momentum going in FY24 to reduce dependence on laterals. “Our aim is to see how best we can train freshers and utilise them on projects. Our supply side planning metrics show that they can be absorbed,” CEO C Vijayakumar told TOI.
The company added over 27,000 freshers in FY23. Vijayakumar said some of them are still undergoing training.
HCLTech has said that 15,000 freshers will be hired in FY24, the only large IT services company to put a number for the year.
Vijayakumar said there are certain long-term projects in secctors like manufacturing and hi-tech where clients are ramping down on tech spend, forcing some employees on these projects to be on the bench.
HCLTech hired 17,067 employees overall in FY23, compared to 39,900 in FY22, reports Moneycontrol. The company recorded an 18% jump in revenues and an 11% increase in profits in the last fiscal.
