Hiring for customer-facing roles in sales and commercial operations as well as other divisions is gaining momentum across hospitality and retail sectors on the back of rising demand and bullish outlook for the upcoming festive season.
Hiring is picking up across restaurants and hotels given revenge spending and expansion plans of chains through new outlets and inventories.
In hospitality, there is an increased demand for people to fill roles in customer service and commercial operations. Hiring is on an uptick thanks to revenge tourism and the revival of the industry post-pandemic, says Rajan Bahadur, CEO of Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council. There is also a shortage of staff because those who lost their jobs during the pandemic never came back or switched professions.
The retail sector has also ramped up hiring in customer-facing roles ahead of the festive season. Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO, Retailers Association of India, says this is because most retailers are witnessing a growth in sales, which will continue during the festive season.
Hiring has increased 35% year-on-year across #ecommerce and #logistics companies, according to data from staffing firm Randstad India. Firms are scouting for talent in areas such as last-mile delivery, logistics, supply chain and customer service. Companies like Flipkart and Ecom Express Limited are planning on bonuses and incentives to attract and retain talent.
