Solution Design, Data Science Intern – Grad level, Corporate Intern 24

EMPLOYMENT TYPE : Intern/Co-Op/Grad (Trainee)

The Internship

Held over an 11-week period during the summer of 2024 for graduate level students graduating between December 2024 and August 2025. The paid internship will prepare associates for a career with Walmart. Work on a meaningful project, network with industry experts, and develop your skills while having an epic summer!

The Solution Design team seeks to detect, action, and resolve defects that create friction in our Customer and Associate experience. We are hiring a Data Science intern to leverage big data and AI/ML, including GenAI, to identify defects, root cause, and drivers.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide insights and recommendations on tools that assist in identifying defects.
Deliver root cause analysis and recommended solution(s) to eliminate defect(s) that exist within the enterprise.
Partner with four in the box teams to incorporate solutions within roadmaps.
Assist in prioritization of initiatives that solve customer and associate defects with highest impact to lost sales opportunity and engagement. Develops gap analysis to support prioritization efforts.
Delivers expected functional area results through Key Performance Indicator (KPI) analysis, loss elimination, and reduce process variation. Assists with the review and response of process improvement projects.
Manage project execution of top losses in the functional area and assists in building the capability for resolution.
Supports the business with projects, associate engagement, and measurable improvements within process area.
Leads savings projects within area of responsibility by taking loss out of the process.
Promotes and supports company policies, initiatives, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in a Grad non-MBA degree program currently.
Expected graduation date between December 2024 and August 2025.
0-1 years of full-time relevant experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and SharePoint; Salesforce, Power BI, SQL experience is a plus.
Python, SQL, SAS, R.

Software Engineer II – Software Development and Engineering

Job Description:

We are looking for a savvy Software Engineer to join our growing team of engineering experts in Finance Data Factory.

The hire will be responsible for building, expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture including helping to build new FDLH platform, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams.

The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building new data platform from the ground up.

The Software Engineer will support our engineers, database architects and data analysts on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent in FDLH.

They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products.

The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of re-designing our data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

Qualifications:

Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area.

Option 2: 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
