AECOM is seeking a Graduate Structural Engineering In Training to be based in Markham, ON.
Job Description:
Assist senior engineers with structural design and construction review for multiple building engineering projects.
Responsibilities include: interpret project requirements, develop proposed solutions, comply with applicable codes and standards, client liaison, site investigations, report preparation, computer modeling, structural analysis and design, preparation of contract drawings and specifications, assist with CAD technicians, coordination with other disciplines, construction review and contract administration.
Assist with managing task or project time and budget goals.
Utilize analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Research and confirm assignments meet building codes, regulatory and industry codes, laws and requirements, as well as client requirements.
Participate in a wide variety of project types including transit facilities, subway stations, maintenance facilities, office buildings, parking structures, public facilities, municipal & industrial buildings, water, and wastewater treatment facilities.
Assist with broad objectives for innovation by identifying creative solutions to address challenging technical issues such as evaluating alternative framing systems, strengthening existing buildings to carry additional loads, and incorporating sustainable design initiatives into projects.
Report to the Structural Department Manager and work with a team of architects, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers, as well as transportation engineers and environmental scientists.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
Proficient in MS Office Programs
Knowledge of industry-standard structural analysis software
