Marine Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Description:
Manage the acquisition and maintenance of marine classification society approvals for product type approval, manufacturer approval, and welding approvals.
Assist the organization and external suppliers in understanding and implementing marine requirements and achieving certifications.
Manage communications related to marine certifications with internal and external stakeholders, including applicable marine classification societies, suppliers, and shipyard customers.
Assist the Marine Project Manager, the Marine Market Segment Manager and Applications Engineering in developing strategies to minimize the cost impact of marine certification requirements on project profitability.
Assist Sourcing in identifying and vetting appropriate suppliers for marine-certified parts and components.
Monitor the Integrated Management System through periodic internal audits, quality data review, corrective action progress, and ongoing observations.
Champion qualification efforts for new or revised processes which require formal qualification programs and industry standard compliance, such as welding and NDE, and ensure that qualifications for existing processes are being properly maintained and documented.
Coordinate resolution of complex quality problems as they arise to minimize the impacts on customers and costs. Facilitate root cause analysis efforts.
Assist IMS document authors as needed with improvements to current procedures or in the development of new procedures.
Work closely with Applications Engineering on the review of quality related specifications and contractual requirements, assessing feasibility and resource/cost impact in order to address risks prior to order placement.
Comply with Safety Rules, Regulations and OSHA Requirements.
Other quality-related duties as business conditions require.
Working knowledge of marine classification society requirements, processes, and certifications is required. Prior experience at a marine classification society is preferred.
Excellent organization skills, follow-through, and attention to detail.
BS or advanced engineering degree strongly preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Internal auditor training or related experience is required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train others on complex topics.
Flexible to changing priorities and assignments.
Knowledge of Comptec products and technology is a strong plus.
Working knowledge of SAP, Lotus Notes, Smarteam, and MS Office applications preferred.
