Data Scientist – Data Science and Analytics – USA
Focus on inventory forecasting by developing time series forecasting models to provide visibility of future available inventory that highlights inventory risks easily. Advance advertising yield management capabilities with accurate and granular forecasts to further guide pricing, packaging, sales strategy, operational planning, and optimizing Wal-Mart’s advertising yield. Work with state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms and statistical models on large, rich, and unique Wal-Mart datasets. Develop highly scalable data science solutions including building analytical tools, performing data processing, and managing end-to-end data modeling pipeline. Work cross-functionally with sales, operations, product, product marketing, and engineering on optimization opportunities and insights. Provide and support the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders. Create compelling graphical representations of data and model outcomes. Build interactive dashboards to showcase the work internally and externally.
Minimum education and experience required:
Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field and 2 years of experience in an analytics or related field.
Required:
Experience with the following machine learning algorithms and statistical techniques: modeling, regression, neural networks, and decision trees. Experience with the following time series forecast algorithms and techniques: linear regression, prophet time series model, and stacked modeling. Experience with the following machine learning and data processing frameworks: Scikit-learn, Pandas, and NumPy. Experience coding in the following object-oriented language and statistical programming languages: Python and R. Experience with Database programming using SQL, stored procedures, and database functions. Experience with Data Visualizations and Exploratory Data Analysis using Python and R. Experience with the following statistical inference methodologies: hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and p-value calculation. Experience building software development version control system using Git. Salary Range:
The annual salary range for this full-time position is $128,000/year to $170,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Develop n-tier application using advanced implementations in RESTful services, using JAVA/J2EE, Spring project reactor. Implement microservices using Spring Boot. Develop services using Cloud Native runtime environment for Docker containers on Kubernetes. Implement microservices to create data pipelines using Kafka which consumes millions of messages per minute. Develop test cases for existing and future functionalities using Junit, Java programing features, and TestNG annotations. Troubleshoot business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; formulating an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; performs root cause analysis to prevent future occurrence of issues; and completing online documentation.
