Automation Engineer – United States
Job Responsibilities:
As an Automation Engineer for the John Deere Davenport Works division located in Davenport, IA you will support the expansion of automation and technology solutions to drive our competitive edge in operations (primarily in fabrication, assembly, and material flow). In addition, you will:
Join a cross-functional, automation-focused team environment
Research, develop, and implement new innovative applications and solutions to add business value
Deploy and maintain a growing list of technologies and controls such as IIOT devices, vision systems, sensors, PLCs, and digital applications
Support the maintenance of robust automation solutions including industrial robots, collaborative robots, autonomous vehicles, and unmanned aircraft systems
Qualification:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering, or Technology discipline (Automation, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer Science, etc.) or related work experience
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Willingness and ability to learn new software, hardware, applications, and technologies through both formal and self-guided education
Curiosity to conduct research and propose contemporary solutions utilizing new and emerging technologies
Knowledge of robotics, automation principles, IoT devices, and/or industrial controls
Some coding experience (such as Python, MATLAB, C/C++, etc.)
Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
Experience or interest working in a manufacturing setting
Technical or practical knowledge of automation, IIOT devices, vision systems, controls, and/or machine to machine connectivity in industrial environments
Knowledge of data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, R Shiny, etc.)
Knowledge of or experience programming in Ignition by Inductive Automation or other SCADA/HMI software
