Product Engineer Full-Time Entry-Level Positions
Investigate product issues to understand product functions and failure mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution and document results, all with guidance from more experienced team members.
Learn how our products are used and identify how we can add value to each downstream customer in the value chain (OEM, Fleet, End-User)
Work with cross-functional teams to learn important technical and broader business knowledge that, with ongoing success in your role, will enable a multi-faceted combination of career path opportunities limited only by your unique interests and career path aspirations.
Work within one or more Cummins product lifecycle processes from new technology integration, new product development, tailoring existing products and making product enhancements to those already in mass production. This knowledge will carry with you regardless of which products you choose to work on at Cummins.
Utilize technical problem solving, risk assessment and decision-making tools to ensure product change management activities are aligned with customer requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree Programs Considered: Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD
Major Programs Typically Considered: All Engineering Majors
A College, University or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field.
Good communication skills along with strengths in logic, planning and decision making.
Experience using Microsoft Office tools or equivalents, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint – Prior hands-on product experience is preferred, but not required.
A postgraduate (Master’s or PhD) degree is typically NOT required for Product Engineer roles.

Service Engineer – Entry Level Full-Time Positions
In this early career role as a Service Engineer, you will have the opportunity to support current product and new product development. You will support Service needs for Cummins customers, be part of investigations, determine product failure modes and work on product improvements.
As a Service Engineer you will:
Apply engineering disciplines and business management skills to develop products for Servicing Cummins products in the field, problem solving service-related issues and enhancing service products after launch.
Complete hands-on work from diagnosing an issue on the product to reviewing failed parts to determine root cause of the failure.
Supporting the identification, resolution, and implementation of fixes on product issues · Initial data capture and warranty claim information processing.
Site visitation and field investigation for potential product issues.
Supporting OEM account teams in finding resolutions to customer issues.
Component failure assessment and processing
Be part of end customer support collaborating with actual users of our products and the service network that supports our products.
Create and develop diagnostics to repair products in the field.
Provide information to Service and Product Warranty, like Service and Operating manuals and Standard Repair Times.
Support the development of Train the Trainer packages to ensure the service channel is prepared to maintain and fix Cummins products.

Electronic Systems – Product Software Engineer – Entry Level Full-Time Positions
Specify, Design, Implement, Test and/or Release software that controls the operation of Cummins’ products,
Investigate product software problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, own problem resolution, and document results,
Develop your industry experience in core knowledge areas such as embedded software development, controls software development, microcontroller architecture.
Develop your skills by becoming familiar with AUTOSAR Automotive Open System Architecture, Automotive electronics communications protocols (IE CAN, CAN-FD & Ethernet).
Utilize product software development processes to take system level requirements and break them down into software requirements.
A College, University or equivalent Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field.
A postgraduate (Master’s or PhD) degree may be required for select Product Software Engineering roles.
