Excitation Application Engineer

AS A GES APPLICATION ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
Development, application and integration of excitation subsystem components such as crowbar, deexcitation, field flashing, power convertion bridges, voltage regulator controller etc. into a fully functional excitation/voltage regulator system that meets the customer specification
Coordinate vendor buyout material for project needs
Team leadership and supervisory skills, as well as progressive project responsibility is a definite asset
Have knowledge of the entire project including scope, schedule, hours of work, cost and delivery milestones
Perform the work within the budgetary and schedule requirements
Perform casual overtime as necessary
Inform Project Manager of any changes that could possibly affect scope, schedule or cost
Travel to customer sites to perform walk downs, maintenance, commissioning or other duties as needed
Create, update and review technical documentation for both the customer and GES group
Participate and provide insight to any engineering changes including changes to design, drawing modifications and documentation
Seek training to further enhance job skills

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in engineering from an accredited college or university, preferably electrical or mechanical
Experience and knowledge of excitation systems control equipment design and electrical power systems are considered necessary with a minimum of 0-5 years experience
Experience with multiple exciter equipment manufacturers is preferred
Specific knowledge in excitation system installation engineering design, installation supervision, project control and execution, excitation system training, start up and commissioning, PSS tuning, and troubleshooting is a plus
Demonstrated skills in using computers and relevant software packages such as Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD
Capable of writing technical reports, articles for trade and technical publications, and presenting papers is also necessary
Team leadership and supervisory skills, as well as, progressive project responsibility is a definite asset
Ability to maintain and oversee accurate project cost and schedule tracking is required
