Ocean Transportation Academy Trainee – Switzerland

The Ocean Transportation Academy aims to attract young professionals and fresh graduates with different educational background ranging from Data Science to Sustainability, with the purpose of building a talent pipeline able to support our future strategy.

We offer a unique program to fresh graduates able to operate in a fast-paced, competitive environment. In the 18 months assignment program, we will provide you with a rotational program in our trading, risk management, vessel operations, analytics, strategy & business development teams to equip you with foundational merchandising and trading competency in shipping.

Job Description:

Participate in an assignment rotation program depending on business needs in different departments including trading, risk management, vessel operations and analytics.
Develop and nurture strategic customer relationships, contribute to enhance digitalization and optimize trade capture process.
Participate in trade life cycle, including contract negotiation, trade entry and physical execution, as well as profit and loss analysis.
Analyze supply and demand data and market/economic conditions to explore ways to innovate and improve data analysis.
Handle basic issues and problems under direct supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree. Ideally in the following academic disciplines: Data science & Technology, Engineering & Sustainability, Marketing, Trading
Confirmed analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent influencing skills.
Strong learning agility and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle risks and ambiguity.
Strong team player and can thrive in a diverse and multicultural environment.
Business fluency in English is a must. Any other language a strong plus.
Due to Swiss work permit restrictions, we can only consider applications from Swiss nationals, EU/EFTA/UK citizens as well as current work-permit holders for Switzerland.

PREFERRED

Master’s degree
Digital savvy: strong analytical, quantitative and numeric skills. Proficient in excel, good knowledge of data science tools, visual analytics technologies and programming language.
Eye for Business and Commercial Excellence: comfort in taking and managing risks and challenging the status quo. Knowledge in trading techniques. Ability to gather customer insights and translate problems into valuable and strategic opportunities. Focus on overall business drivers.
