IBM Research at Albany Nanotech is currently seeking engineers in the area of process technology and characterization for semiconductors and related devices, including lithography, etch, metrology, defect characterization, CMP, Wet etching/cleaning, Insulator/dielectric deposition, metal deposition, epi and anneal/rapid thermal process.

Job Description:

Some of the job responsibilities include maintaining and qualifying state of the art semiconductor 300mm process equipment, developing processes, and characterization of the processes from an early concept stage into a mature element that enables a leading-edge technology.

The position requires interaction with cross-functional and multi-company working teams that include engineers engaged in process integration, metrology, masks, design/layout, materials and process development, and computational technology. Generation of Intellectual Property for IBM and protection of it through the patenting process are also expected.

The hired candidate must possess strong analytical and design-of-experiment knowledge, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to articulate difficult concepts to an audience with diverse technical backgrounds.
You must be willing to work in Albany, NY, with occasional day travel to Yorktown Heights, NY, and infrequent overnight travel to various locations worldwide. (<10%)

Qualification:

This position requires B.S. degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or a related field, with relevant industrial experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in a science or engineering discipline
Design of experiments
Strong communication and presentation skills, Fluent in English

MS/PhD. degree in a science or engineering discipline
1+ year of experience with related experience in process development, metrology, defect characterization, or semiconductor equipment and processes.
