At Tata Steel, We are currently looking for two Process Supervisors to join our team in Shapfell. As part of your role, you will direct, lead and co-ordinate a team of production, contractor and engineering (when required) personnel on a 12-hour shift basis in the operation of the Lime Plant and the whole works. The Process Supervisors will ensure that production targets, plant maintenance, quality and customer standards are met safely and economically.

Job Description:

You will manage a team of up to 12 personnel, providing training, coaching and development plans as required. The Process Supervisors’ responsibilities will include;

Controlling and organising labour to achieve safe operations, plant performance, cost, training, quality and customer related objectives. Oversee performance to ensure standards are high and discipline maintained.

Oversee daily operations to achieve planned throughput to satisfy customer orders. Establish task priorities for the shift and make changes where necessary to ensure quality and volume requirements are met.

Carry out statutory safety inspections, as the Appointed Competent Person (Section 105) required under the Quarries Act, and record findings in the prescribed paperwork.

Assess operator’s performance on a continuous basis and identify training where necessary. You will conduct an appraisal interviews and create/agree training plans with staff – Shapfell has held Investor in People status for a long time so we it’s vital that our staff are fully trained.

Review operating practices to seek continuous improvement in labour utilisation and plant efficiencies.

Maintain a working environment, which meets all safety and environmental requirements.

Qualification:

The Process Supervisors will hold a sound knowledge of safety legislation and how to apply that at local levels. Previous experience within a Production/manufacturing unit and leadership of such would be desirable.

You’ll need to have the ability to analyse, interpret and act upon large amounts of information, with a keen attention to detail. In particular, be able to understand, analyse and interpret data and trends. The Process Supervisors will hold a good understanding of IT systems and have excellent interpersonal skills.

The Process Supervisors will be computer literate, with English + Maths @ “A” Level strongly desirable. NEBOSH general certificate would also be preferred although a willingness to train to that level will be considered. For the right candidate, a programme of leadership and management training is also scheduled for early 2023.
