Market Risk Analyst – Valuation – United Kingdom

Job Description:

Develop standard deal entry methodologies for complex and long dated contracts, ensuring that difficult to value elements such as physical optionality are considered. Ensure that these deals are valued in accordance with financial and management accounting requirements.

Ensure that all exposures generated from complex or long-term deals are fully understood and that these exposures and resultant P&L are properly evaluated, validated, and analyzed prior to any income being reported.

In collaboration with Market Risk teams, developing and maintaining asset-backed risk owned models e.g., storage or pipelines used in the trading books ensuring they fairly represent the inherent risk in the portfolio.

Documenting and deploying consistent standards for value recognition across commodity lines.

In collaboration with Market Risk, develop and apply fair economic value principles across the businesses, coordinating across the global risk managers to ensure consistent application. This includes providing modelling support and challenge with stakeholders on valuation inputs and parameters.

Ensure that all complex and long-term transactions are properly captured in the trading system.

Develop methodologies for extending forward curves beyond the liquid transparent tenor for the valuation of long-term deals.

Qualification:

We are keen to hear from candidates with proven professional experience within a trading and risk management organization, including a strong understanding of trading, operations, risk, compliance and mid/back-office business processes, policies, procedures, and controls.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or IT; or relevant workplace experience in the energy trading industry. Advanced degree or certificate preferred.

Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, such as pivot tables, lookups, VBA macros

Thorough understanding of financial, commodity and energy markets; derivative instruments and hedging techniques preferred

Understanding of options theory and its application to commodities and asset valuation preferred

Knowledge of scripting languages which enable data gathering and transformation such as Python, and database languages such as SQL, Endur, DEX or comparable energy trading risk management system and ability to fully leverage its functionality

Junior Reservoir Engineer – Europe 

Reservoir Engineer – Junior Data Analyst is a role for Early Careers.

Job Description:

Work closely with Assets / Reservoir Engineer in maintaining and providing necessary access/data for various reservoir studies/reviews.

Understand and provide support on necessary reports & workflows during the annual reporting cycles (internal and external).

Support Reserves Reporting, Subsurface Benchmarking, and Portfolio Analysis.

Integrate subsurface data types such as production, pressures, etc. to present meaningful insights using industry-standard data visualization tools. Perform quality checks and connect with relevant stakeholders for verification/rectification.

Support Assets with Reserves estimation and classification, Decline Curve Analysis (DCA) based Production Forecasting, Well Test interpretation, and MBAL Modelling.

Participate in the reservoir engineering network and share key achievements and challenges.

Be a team player and assist other colleagues in reservoir engineering processes/workflows as required.

Qualification:

University Degree in Geoscience, Reservoir Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or relevant.

Freshers/1-2 years of relevant experience in any one of the areas: Field Development Planning, Reservoir Studies, Production Forecasting, Subsurface Benchmarking, Annual Reserves Reporting, etc.

Data Management skills in identifying data sources, analyzing data quality, and providing reliable data would be an asset.

Basic understanding of various data types such as production, injection, fluid, pressure, reservoir properties, etc.

Understanding of end-to-end Upstream Asset Development.

Skills in Data analysis (using Python), data integration (using VBA, Power Query), and visualization (using Spotfire, PowerBI) are added advantages.

Experience in applying Continuous Improvement methods for process improvements is a good addition.

EIC Engineer – United Kingdom

Job Description:

Development and Introduction of new technologies to support Shells powering progress strategy e.g. Fuel cells, hybrid battery systems and energy efficiency technologies.

Participate in project teams for ship new construction and conversions, including the preparation of outline specifications, technical evaluation of tenders, negotiation with short listed bidders, plan approval, design discussions with builder, attendance and witness at factory acceptance tests, commissioning and trials.

Effective liaison with personnel from professional bodies, shipyard managers, Shell Shipping fleet management operation units and Shell Group discipline engineers.

Follow policies and interpret legislative requirements with some guidance.

Keep abreast of industry developments and recognize potential for economic implementation of innovative ideas as a means of increasing operational safety or reducing costs.

Design, installation commissioning, certification and repair of equipment.

May be designated as a Technical Authority (TA), or Subject Matter Expert (SME).

Member of the Maritime Design & Engineering Global Technical Discipline.

Qualification:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably a Master’s degree (in order to ease transition to a Chartered Engineer Status at a later date) qualified in an Electrical/Electronic Engineering related subject.

Relevant sea going experience or design and commissioning experience with a marine/offshore biased equipment vendor or designer.

Extensive practical and theoretical knowledge of electrical power systems or electrical control systems and of relevant issues in marine and offshore construction, design and operations.

Chartered Electrical Engineering status is advantageous.

Experience in Power Systems, Control Engineering, Instrumentation, Project Delivery.

Managing Sub-Contracts and Contract Management is nice to have.

Full understanding of the relevant Electrical Engineering Standards and Safe Working Practices.

Knowledge of electrical equipment suitable for use in hazardous areas and hazardous area installations.
