Process Safety Engineer

Closing Date: Tuesday 15th October 2024

We are currently recruiting for a Process Safety Engineer at our Trostre site. This role is in place to drive the adoption of process safety best practice.

This includes training and coaching as well as applying technical principals as specified by the company. The role also ensures that compliance to the COMAH regulations is maintained.

Job Responsibilities:

To lead Process Safety risk assessments including HazOps, BowTies and LOPAs

To provide advice on Process Safety standards and systems to the installation using best practice from the Process Safety group

Coach and support the manufacturing teams in risk analysis techniques, ensuring completion and review of the risk assessments in compliance with the Management of Change system

Deliver training modules associated with Process Safety and COMAH as required to Tata Steel and contract personnel.

Participate in Process Safety incident investigations.

Own and develop installation specific Process Safety documents and databases

Be points of contact for Functional Safety and DSEAR queries

Ensure COMAH compliance is maintained and the installation safety reports are updated and reviewed.

Coordinate and review the installation improvement plans.

Qualification:

We are looking for chemical, electrical or mechanical engineers ideally with operational experience and understanding of process safety practices and principals.

You will have a clear vision of excellence in Process Safety and experience and competence in core safety subjects such as risk assessment and management systems.

Project Engineer Electrical

Closing Date: Tuesday 15th October 2024

Job Description:

Develop and manage project plans in line with long-term strategies, ensuring all phases, from concept to final acceptance, are fully delivered.

Ensure compliance with relevant standards during all lifecycle phases, including design, specification, installation, and maintenance.

Support improvement and capital plans as decided by the Senior Engineering team.

Provide expert engineering support for improvement work and problem-solving.

Assist in setting Tata Steel Trostre’s policy in line with ISO/IEC, EN, BS, and Tata Steel guidance.

Organize and document safety studies, such as risk assessments, HAZOP, and FMEA.

Participate in call-out systems for plant support and provide out-of-hours assistance as needed.

Use SAP and manage changes with the creation of Management of Change documents.

As an experienced Project Engineer, you should ideally have a degree in engineering, combined with experience in the steel industry.

Knowledge of project management techniques, risk assessments, and safety studies is essential.

Strong analytical, computing, and communication skills are required, along with the ability to create reports.

A full driving license and valid passport may be needed for occasional UK and European travel.

Experience in the following areas would be of beneficial:

Electrical safety and design
PLCs and SCADA systems
Digital drives and motor control
Distribution systems

Mechanical Asset Improvement Engineer

The job holder will be responsible for engineering systems adherence and maintenance activities and asset improvement within the Manufacturing Engineering function to support Shotton process lines and auxiliary plant.

They would also need to help deliver the Annual Operating Plan in respect of Health and Safety, and provide information, as required, to ensure targets are in control.

The responsibilities

Have an Involvement with deploying asset enhancing initiatives overarching all process lines and auxiliary plant.

Complying with all required company safety protocols, safety legislation, whilst also ensuring legal compliance of plant such as emissions limits.

Major Maintenance involvement with regards to plant reliability critical projects, which can include key infrastructure repairs to plant.

Ensure that services provided are technically sound and employ World Best practices in order to maintain a high standard.

To effectively liaise with Shotton user departments at all levels and functional managers, when required.

Applicants must be flexible with excellent team working and leadership skills. Experience in Industrial Engineering is desirable along with possession of relevant qualifications of Degree level or higher (Not required if suitable experience can be shown).

Project Engineer (Electrical) / Electrical Project Engineer

Job Description:

As a Project Engineer, you will create project plans and proposals that will support and improve our business. You’ll oversee all stages of projects that are assigned to you, from initial concept, through execution to final acceptance, ensuring all work meets the relevant standards and guidelines from a design, safety and environmental standpoint. You will support by drafting technical specifications and requests for quotations from OEMs and contractor partners.

Your role involves the overseeing of project engineering activities to ensure the area you are responsible for is completed on time and to budget, safely and to the designed standard. Problem-solving and liaising with internal and external stakeholders is critical to your success.

Qualification:

The Project Engineer will hold a strong background within the Heavy Industry sector. A degree in Engineering and Chartered Engineer status is desirable but not essential. A solid understanding of project management techniques, risk assessment, and safety study methods is ideal, however, individuals who are successful will be expected to develop themselves and training will be provided. Excellent communication skills are crucial, as you will represent the business externally and act as a company ambassador.

A high level of engineering competency in Electrical disciplines is expected. You should also have excellent time management, problem solving and analytical abilities.

Mechanical maintenance engineer

Job Description:

As Mechanical maintenance engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting operations teams by performing necessary breakdown repairs, leading preventative maintenance activity and facilitating the promotion of engineering solutions for process improvement.

These are key to ensure process availability and productivity are optimised.

The position requires an effective engineer with substantial experience in Service Centre or manufacturing activities. The engineer should be qualified to ONC or City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering.

Demonstrable experience of a relevant engineering discipline, continuous improvement processes, preventative maintenance techniques and dealing with contractors.

Ability to demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills and be computer literate. The ability to work without close supervision, yet under pressure and to tight timescales is essential.

A knowledge of and ability to apply Continuous Improvement techniques.

Skills to include, but not limited to:-

Familiarity with Hydraulic and Pneumatic power systems. Ability to read and interpret system drawings to support fault finding and process improvements.

Knowledge and experience to fault find on Hydraulic and Pneumatic power systems with the ability to introduce modifications in order facilitate necessary repairs.

Familiarity with changing shear blades and setting gaps with an aim to optimise live and deliver quality demands.

Knowledge of mechanical principles to support process breakdowns.

Ability to read engineering drawings to support repair and maintenance.

Understanding of Isolation and immobilisation processes.

Overhead crane driving, Forklift truck and MEWP.

Knowledge and experience working and maintaining press blanking tools.

Familiarity with turning lathes and ability to manufacture small to turn small to medium parts to support breakdowns.

Knowledge of the mechanical aspects on overhead cranes. To include wheel and rope changing.

Understand condition-based monitoring methods and equipment.
