Business Project Engineer – United Kingdom
If you are looking for a new challenge, the role of Business Project Engineer is an exciting opportunity to make a difference at Tata Steel UK. This new position will help shape the future roadmap of Capital Expenditure Schemes within Building System UK. Join us and support our business growth – Building Systems UK (A Tata Steel Enterprise).
The Business Project Engineer role follows a hybrid working pattern from Monday to Friday (8:30am-4:30pm).
You will be required to spend a minimum of three days per week working on-site at our Shotton facility, with the remaining days potentially working remotely.
As Business Project Engineer you will play a pivotal role to define, organise and control mechanical engineering work associated with business improvement projects and Capital development projects that support to deliver both annual plan and strategic roadmap goals within Building Systems UK.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop detailed engineering specifications for business improvements and enhancements.
Prepare documentation applicable to the pre tender stages of equipment procurement contracts, ensuring that each project stays within the allocated budget and timeframe.
Liaise with suppliers and procurement to ensure the tendering phase is timely managed.
key member to support and update a Capital Expenditure Roadmap that includes a 10 year view.
Prepare detailed project plans for defined aspects of larger schemes.
Work with the teams across the business in a Continuous Improvement function to support developments.
Produce detailed designs and drawings to meet the specifications of the project brief.
Collaborate with other engineers and technical personnel to support management of change requirements and develop instructional and training manuals.
Qualification:
The jobholder should be educated to Engineering degree level or equivalent and have relevant plant experience in the steel or construction industry.
Experience of metal industries applications or manufacturing industry applications could be considered as an alternative.
The jobholder must be capable of applying engineering principles and techniques in order to develop and specify equipment for replacement, improvement or enhancement to the manufacturing processes.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, along with excellent problem-solving abilities, are essential. Capable of working effectively at all levels within the organization and have a strong understanding of risk management.

Civil Engineer – UK
As a Civil Engineer, you’ll play a key role in delivering works contracts within a major construction project. Working alongside a dedicated Construction Management team, you’ll act as Project Manager, ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency are met.
From reviewing designs and managing construction programmes to collaborating with contractors and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, you’ll be involved in every stage of the project. You’ll also manage budgets, coordinate site works, and work collaboratively to solve challenges and deliver on ambitious objectives.

Reviewing designs and drawings to ensure constructability and cost-effectiveness.
Managing commercial construction contracts, with a focus on NEC contracts.

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and on budget.

Job Requirements:
HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
Experience in reviewing civil engineering drawings and managing construction contracts.
A strong understanding of health and safety in construction.
Proven experience managing costs, budgets, and quality on-site.
A UK/EEC driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications:
Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
Chartered membership (or working towards it) with a relevant professional body.
Experience in industrial or heavy civil engineering projects.
Familiarity with NEC contracts and BIM systems like BIM360 or ACC.
