Quality Engineer
Job Description:
Perform root cause analysis of quality issues, often using advanced problem solving tools (like Kepner Tregoe, Shainin Red X, Design of Experiments).
Recommend and implement simple cost-effective permanent corrective actions.
Analyze quality data from internal and external indicators to ensure correlation.
Manage engineering changes, working with cross-functional team to ensure timely execution.
Conduct product evaluation requests to ensure robustness of product or process change before full implementation.
Work with Engineering and Suppliers to resolve issues that are not plant controllable.
Recommend and validate rework procedures.
Develop inspection procedures and best methods for performing inspection. Develop projects to support World Class Manufacturing.
Lead the creation, approval, and implementation of Base Engine or Interior Engineering Field Service Actions.
Lead cross-functional teams to obtain information required for Director financial approval. Present action for approvals on a weekly basis to both Senior Manager and Director of Current Production Quality.
Display effective communication skills to support meeting at all levels of the company, including senior leadership. Work independently on projects and push to timely completion.
Report out on projects to immediate and senior management teams. Maintain a strong interface with Vehicle Assembly Plants, Vehicle Safety and Regulatory Affairs, Release Engineering and Technical
Practical experience in Engineering, Engineering Quality or Manufacturing Quality within an automotive organization (will consider Internship, SAE, etc.
Prior application and use of problem solving tools and statistics
Knowledge of GD&T
MS Office / G-Suite , including presentation skills
Must be self-motivated, results driven, able to work with minimal supervision
Excellent critical thinking and leadership skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
May be required to travel domestically (0-20%)
May be required to drive a company vehicle – valid driver’s license & clean driving record required
