Mechanical Design Engineer

This position is for a design engineer with a strong analytical focus, for the mechanical design of rotary screw air compressors and systems. The engineer will work with senior compressor design staff to codify and organize design tools created for air compressor design. The position requires a candidate who can be productive in a self-directed and experimental environment, for discovery and documentation of the important factors and underlying science governing rotary screw compressor performance. Responsibilities will include the technical design and analytical aspects of sub-system components to ensure design integrity and robustness. This individual is expected to collaborate in a dynamic engineering team designing and supporting new product development and new technology initiatives.




Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
2+ years of relevant experience
Evidence of an understanding of thermodynamic and mechanical principles (e.g. compression cycles, heat transfer, power transmission, stress and strain, material properties)
Ability to model problems, algorithms and reporting for analytic learning and data optimization
Willingness to learn new skills for bearing system design, gear design, lubrication system design, and other aspects of compressor design
Experience with commercial software for analyzing and solving physical problems involving air compression is a plus
Precision machining and dimensional coordinate measurement system knowledge is a plus
Plant or manufacturing operation experience is a plus
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the business using Office 365 tools
Familiarity with Product Lifecycle and Computer Aided Design systems, (e.g. Windchill and Creo)
