Project Engineer Electrical

As a Project Engineer, you will create project plans and proposals that will support and improve our business. You’ll oversee all stages of projects that are assigned to you, from initial concept, through execution to final acceptance, ensuring all work meets the relevant standards and guidelines from a design, safety and environmental standpoint. You will support by drafting technical specifications and requests for quotations from OEMs and contractor partners.

Your role involves the overseeing of project engineering activities to ensure the area you are responsible for is completed on time and to budget, safely and to the designed standard. Problem-solving and liaising with internal and external stakeholders is critical to your success.

The Project Engineer will hold a strong background within the Heavy Industry sector. A degree in Engineering and Chartered Engineer status is desirable but not essential. A solid understanding of project management techniques, risk assessment, and safety study methods is ideal, however, individuals who are successful will be expected to develop themselves and training will be provided. Excellent communication skills are crucial, as you will represent the business externally and act as a company ambassador.

A high level of engineering competency in Electrical disciplines is expected. You should also have excellent time management, problem solving and analytical abilities.

Process Control & Automation Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Engineer in Process Control & Automation (PCA) to join our engineering team in CRP. This role will see you manage and maintain a wide range of automation assets critical to our operations – from PLCs and SCADA to instrumentation and network systems. If you’re a hands-on engineer with a passion for innovation and control systems, this is your chance to drive performance across one of our key UK sites.

You’ll play a leading role in the maintenance, development and troubleshooting of all PC&A systems on site. Your work will directly support plant availability, performance and compliance, and you’ll be a trusted expert for both shift and day-based teams.

Job Responsibilities:

Diagnosing and resolving faults in control systems and manufacturing equipment
Maintaining and developing Level 0–3 systems (PLC, SCADA, data acquisition, instrumentation, CCTV)
Administering local networks, control rooms, and operational infrastructure
Maintaining backups, cyber compliance, and disaster recovery for automation systems
Managing calibration and performance of quality assurance instrumentation
Supporting environmental and safety instrumentation in line with compliance requirements
Acting as lead engineer on minor PC&A projects and supervising internal/external contractors
Coordinating spares planning and the PC&A Failure Strategies Asset (FSA)
Supporting training of site personnel and identifying future development needs
Authorising and managing work permits (CAT1/2/3) for maintenance and engineering activities

Qualification:

We’re looking for a technically strong and organised engineer who thrives in a complex, safety-critical environment. You’ll need:

A degree, HNC or HND in Electrical, Control or Automation Engineering, with relevant experience
A strong understanding of control systems architecture, instrumentation, and industrial networks
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills across a range of control assets
Familiarity with SAP PM, permit systems, and engineering planning
Confidence interpreting P&ID and electrical drawings
An understanding of safety systems (LOPA, SIL, SIF), ISO standards, and compliance frameworks
A proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and support wider teams

Previous supervisory experience and involvement in compliance (e.g. COMAH, HAZOP) would be highly advantageous.

Structural Applications Support

You’ll be part of our national Technical Advisory team, working closely with customers, specifiers and internal stakeholders to provide engineering guidance, design input and product support.

Responding to technical queries about structural steel products
Supporting engineers, designers and contractors with specifications and standards
Assisting with product compliance, load tables, and structural calculations
Creating and reviewing technical content, guidance notes and design tools
Supporting CPD presentations and representing Tata Steel in industry forums
Support the development and maintenance of project tracking systems to ensure effective project oversight
Conduct market research and analysis to identify growth opportunities for the structural team, including benchmarking, customer insights, and competitive trends
Enhance brand visibility by promoting awareness of Tata Steel and its product offerings

You’ll have a solid foundation in civil or structural engineering, combined with strong communication skills and a practical understanding of construction and design processes.

Qualification:

Hold a minimum of an HND (or equivalent) in Structural or Civil Engineering with a degree qualification preferred
Ideally, experience in building design or steel construction
Good knowledge of Eurocodes and UK structural design standards
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused mindset

Electrical Maintenance Engineer

Are you an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer looking to step into a role where you can have real impact?

At Tata Steel, we’re looking for an Electrical Shift Maintenance Engineer to join our fast-paced, highly automated Steelpark facility. You’ll work as part of a skilled, multi-disciplinary team responsible for keeping our production equipment operating safely, reliably and efficiently.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of both reactive and planned electrical maintenance across a range of process and auxiliary equipment. Your focus will be on reducing downtime, improving reliability, and supporting wider process improvement initiatives.

Respond to equipment breakdowns and carry out effective fault finding and repair
Lead on preventative maintenance tasks to minimise unplanned downtime
Log and track all work activities through our digital maintenance system (Pirana)
Highlight emerging issues, propose corrective actions and contribute to root cause analysis
Support a culture of continuous improvement and safe working practices

Qualification:

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant electrical discipline, or completion of a recognised apprenticeship
Solid hands-on experience in electrical maintenance and fault finding
A proactive, problem-solving mindset with the confidence to work independently or as part of a team
Good understanding of health and safety standards in a heavy industrial or manufacturing setting

Transport Co-Ordinator

As a Transport Co-ordinator, you’ll be responsible for scheduling deliveries, managing transport systems, and acting as a key contact point between internal teams, drivers and external customers.

Job Responsibilities:

Planning and allocating transport resources to meet delivery schedules
Communicating with hauliers, drivers and internal stakeholders

Site Process Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to join our Engineering team and help us maintain and improve the performance of our tube manufacturing operations. If you’re passionate about plant reliability, operational safety, and delivering measurable improvements, this role could be for you.

As Site Process Engineer, you’ll be the technical lead for mechanical engineering activities in your operational area. You’ll work closely with a multi-skilled team to ensure maintenance, improvement and compliance activities are planned, executed and documented effectively.

Lead the mechanical maintenance strategy for your area, ensuring plant reliability and equipment uptime
Manage preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance using SAP
Drive down maintenance costs while increasing asset life cycle performance
Supervise and develop a team of internal and external engineering resources
Oversee contractor and spares management to meet business needs
Contribute to CAPEX and improvement projects, leading initiatives from concept to delivery

Mechanical Engineer

The successful candidate will have previous Mechanical Engineering experience in a high volume industrial manufacturing environment, previous hands on experience would be advantageous. You must be educated to qualified to a minimum of 2.1 BEng in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent recognised by an accredited body. Chartered status an advantage. Applicants will have an appreciation of the techniques, problems and standards associated with steel or related engineering disciplines.
