Computer Operations Higher Apprenticeship

We offer IET accredited apprenticeship opportunities within Computer Operations. These include an opportunity to be part of an apprenticeship where you can learn and study towards an Level 6 qualifications whilst gaining invaluable practical work experience.

During your apprenticeship you will work towards:

Work based competency
BSc Applied cyber security degree

Manufacturing Apprenticeship

Our manufacturing function plays a vital role in our business. Working closely with colleagues in and beyond manufacturing to ensure that plant performance is optimised and that production targets are achieved. This involves operating at pace, with precision and to accurate technical guidelines.

The roles are varied – you will be involved with all elements associated with manufacturing including; health & safety, quality, customer focus, production efficiency, planning and technical areas.

With hard work and dedication, successful candidates will become fully functioning Team Members over the two-year period and be able to perform a range of Manufacturing duties. Beyond this milestone, candidates with the aspiration and potential can continue their development and become our Senior Operators or Team Leaders of the future.

The apprenticeship will be a 3 year programme, where you will study for a Level 3 BTEC in Advanced Manufacturing.

The course will use blended learning through knowledge, skills and application at both college and on site.

Year 1 will be full time at college.
Year 2 will be a mix of day release at college (depending on qualifications) and shift work on site at Tata in Hartlepool.
Year 3 will be full time on site at Tata in Hartlepool.

We are looking for individuals with a good mix of the following qualities:

An interest in Engineering/Manufacturing
Ability to work shifts
Practical hobbies
Determination to succeed
Basic IT skills are desirable.

Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship

We are looking for innovative minds and skills that go beyond just pure academic ability in order to drive change and really make a difference.

Year 1 Full Time College Study (Level 2 & 3)

Year 2, 3 & 4 On Site 4 days per week / 1 Day on Release to College (Level 3)

The Steelpark engineers work a 3 shift rota. Initially apprentices will work days 7am – 3pm moving to a 2-shift rota while on day release at college then onto a three-shift rota once college has been completed. This allows the business to match the apprentice with a dedicated engineering shift manager and their team.

Technical Higher Apprenticeship 

At Shotton we offer IET accredited apprenticeship opportunities within laboratories. These include an opportunity to be part of an apprenticeship where you can learn and study towards an NVQ and HNC whilst gaining invaluable practical work experience.

For Laboratory apprenticeships there is a 1 year full time program at TTE, with one day a week at college studying HNC. TTE is a leading training provider that offers training on behalf of a range of companies in the metals, chemical, petrochemical, process, power, paper, pharmaceutical, nuclear and oil and gas industries throughout the North West.

Employed by Tata Steel you will attend TTE full time for one year. From your second year you will be based on site at Shotton whilst continuing your apprenticeship and education.

During your apprenticeship you will work towards:

Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities
HNC in Applied Chemistry
Level 2 Functional skills
RoSPA H&S Basic Certificate

Following successful completion of your apprenticeship you will be offered a one year fixed term contract with Tata Steel, with the aim of progressing into a permanent role after that.
