Job Description:
The Applied Metallurgy team within Research & Development plays an integral part in new product development and process optimisation, from concept to implementation, to deliver value to our business. The people in our team are analytical, rational thinkers who bring innovation and excellent attention to detail to their work. You will be involved in the evaluation of various test samples, using a range of advanced technical equipment to simulate the production processes in our business and characterise the performance of laboratory and steelworks produced materials. The results and understanding you will generate will inform key decision making. You will have direct contact with internal/external customers and suppliers, as appropriate, to ensure maximum availability of specialist equipment. We work to high quality standards and are accredited to international standards.
The apprenticeship
During your 2 year higher apprenticeship programme you will receive on the job training in metallography and thermo mechanical simulation, alongside studying towards a Level 4 qualification in materials science/ metallurgy/general science.
All our apprentice programmes commence in September 2022.
Qualification:
You will need a minimum of five GCSEs or equivalent at Grades A* – C or level 4 – 9 or above including Maths, Science and English are essential,
and 3 A levels or equivalent, all must be STEM based subjects.
