Design Quality Engineering Co-Op
The Design Quality mission is to partner with our product development teams and support innovation in percutaneously implanted cardiac pumps while responsible for all risk management activities for our products. This position will work on assisting our group in risk management deliverables, design and development of products, and supporting us as we integrate into Johnson and Johnson.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct and review failure analysis for new product development projects
Provide input to improve risk management processes
Learn and apply guidance to teams from ISO 14971
Conduct and/or review tolerance analysis on product designs with guidance from senior engineer
Manage transfer and organization of Design History Files for legacy and new product development projects
Qualifications
Junior, Senior, or Graduate student pursuing a degree in mechanical, biomedical, or directly related engineering discipline
Passion for medical devices and making a positive impact on patients and the safety of our product.
Strong design, testing, and analytical skills preferred (e.g. engineering and statistical analysis)
Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of SolidWorks a plus

Software Design Quality Engineer Co-op
POSITION SUMMARY

This position will work on assisting our group in risk management deliverables, design and development of product software, and supporting us as we integrate into Johnson and Johnson. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the product development cycle and the world of medical device development.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the software engineering team through the software development lifecycle
Conduct and review software failure analysis for new product development projects
Provide input to improve risk management processes
Learn and apply guidance to teams from ISO 14971, IEC 62304
Manage transfer and organization of Design History Files for legacy and new product development projects
Qualifications:
Enrolled for the duration of the co-op in an accredited College/University pursuing a Bachelor’s or
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering or a related field
Completion of Undergraduate Sophomore year at accredited University is required
Availability to work Full-time onsite from January – June 2025
Permanently authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future
Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as on a team
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and have strong oral and written communication skills
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Preferred
Demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities
Previous quality or software development and test engineering related experiences.
Knowledge of FDA or regulatory guidance
Medical related experience (previous co-op at medical device company, working volunteering at a hospital, etc.)
Understanding of software development methodologies

During your 10 week internship, you will:
Work on programs and strategies for compounds in development and/or marketed products.
Gain experience and exposure in drug development intended to address unmet medical needs in markets globally through an understanding of laws, guidances, and regulatory requirements for drugs and combination products.
Use creative problem solving skills to develop new ideas and insights, including takeaways about yourself as a leader.
Partner with other regulatory interns with diverse skills and experiences in building solutions for real-life business challenges through hands-on projects.
Qualifications:
Earned or is currently pursuing an advanced degree in scientific, technology or engineering related field from an accredited academic institution. Examples include, biomedical engineering, data analytics/applied statistics, quantitative modeling in biology, pharmacy or other healthcare science.
Strong academic track record is required.
Experience/interest in graphic or visual design, journalism, creative writing, or creative arts is a plus.
Demonstrated leadership in campus/community activities is desired.
Able to work individually, as well as, part of a group, with curiosity and flexibility.
Possess a “can do” approach, and courage to speak your voice and suggest innovative ideas.
Available to work full-time (40 hours per week) during internship.

Desired assignment location is New Jersey and may require local travel. Flexible arrangements in other U.S. locations may be considered.

The anticipated base pay for this position is Sophomore $24.75/hr, Junior $25.75/hr, Senior $27.75/hr, Master’s degree $33/hr.
Business Degrees:
The anticipated base pay for this position is Sophomore $21.75/hr, Junior $22.75/hr, Senior $23.75/hr, Master’s degree $29.75/hr.
