Network Deployment and Support, Intern – USA
This is a full-time, 12-week internship position based in our Huntsville, AL data center or Fremont, CA.
Meta’s Edge & Network Service (ENS) team is actively looking for passionate people to help us tackle the unique set of challenges and opportunities we face as we scale our data center footprint.
Job Responsibilities:
Support and lead implementation of Meta’s production network infrastructure in the datacenter
Perform hands on troubleshooting and repair of network hardware, software, and network circuits
Manage and update work assignments through our internal task tools and repair ticketing system
Perform network maintenance including hardware and software upgrades, migrations, decommissioning, and capacity upgrades
Maintain asset database and related documentation for installed network infrastructure
Work cross-functionally to plan and execute projects and manage operational incidents
Qualifications:
Currently has, or in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s degree or Master’’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field
Ability to communicate cross-functionally and solve problems under pressure
Proficient in UNIX/Linux and TCP/IP network fundamentals
Knowledge of configuring and troubleshooting IP routing/switching technologies and protocols in a dual-stack environment
Ability to pick up new concepts around network design and management
Detail oriented with troubleshooting and analytical skills
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred:
Operational experience in data center, service provider, or wide area networks
Experience coding in at least one language, preferably for network or systems automation Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op

Research Scientist Intern, Product Algorithms (PhD) – UK, Europe
We are looking for research interns to join the Product Algorithms team in Central Applied Science.
Our internships are twelve (12) – twenty four (24) weeks long and have various start dates throughout the year.
Job Responsibilities:
Work with vast amounts of data, generate research questions that push the state-of-the-art, and build data-driven products.
Develop novel quantitative methods on top of Meta’s unparalleled data infrastructure.
Work towards long-term ambitious research goals, while identifying intermediate milestones.
Communicate best practices in quantitative analysis to partners.
Work both independently and collaboratively with other scientists, engineers, UX researchers, and product managers to accomplish complex tasks that deliver demonstrable value.
Qualifications:
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related field.
Experience analyzing datasets using languages like Python or R.
Experience developing algorithms in languages like Python, C, C++ or Java.
Experience with empirical research and for answering questions with data.
Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred:
Expertise in one or more of the following fields: causal inference, machine learning, combinatorial optimization and stochastic modeling.
Experience working with large-scale data systems, such as Presto, Spark, etc.
Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as KDD, ICML, NeurIPS, AAAI, WWW, WSDM, etc.
Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.

Software Engineer (Systems) – USA
Job Responsibilities
Research, design, develop, build and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run our applications
Build new features and improve existing products
Work on problems of moderate scope
Push code, drive the development of the systems behind our products, create web applications that reach billions of people, build high volume servers, and be a part of a team to connect people around the globe
Develop a strong understanding of relevant product area, codebase, and/or systems
Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming and software engineering
Produce high quality code with good test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworks
Receiving general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments, work independently, use available resources to get unblocked, and complete tasks on-schedule by exercising strong judgment and problem solving skills
Master internal development standards from developing to releasing code in order to take on tasks and projects with increasing levels of complexity

Qualifications:

Completion of a graduate-level course, research project, or internship involving each of the following:
1. Coding in one of the following industry-standard languages: C, C++, Java, or C#
2. Python, PHP, or Haskell
3. Relational databases and SQL
4. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs) and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)
5. Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS as evidenced by file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting
6. Core web technologies: HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
7. Building highly-scalable performant solutions
8. Data processing, programming languages, databases, networking, operating systems, computer graphics, or human-computer interaction
9. Applying algorithms and core computer science concepts to real world systems as evidenced by recognizing and matching patterns from different areas of computer science in production systems
