Factory Planning – Simulation Engineering Internship (m/w/d) – Europe 

Tesla is looking for a passionate and highly motivated engineering intern to contribute to implementing Industrial engineering principles by developing and maintaining process and factory level simulation models. This role gives you, as our new superstar, a chance to work on very interesting projects with a lot of amazing and different teams across Tesla towards identifying, optimizing and solving complex problems that lead to tangible real-world benefits.

Job Description:

  • Work with Factory Planning, and Manufacturing engineers towards gathering and structuring inputs relevant to simulation models.
  • Develop and build discretx1e event simulation models in Flexsim (can be trained), Plant
  • Simulation, Anylogic for manufacturing processes.
  • Analyze and interpret simulation results. Apply statistical data analyses to draw logistics system performance conclusions and make performance improvement recommendations.
  • Deliver simulation conclusions in a clear and concise manner, including but not limited to sensibility analysis and design option comparisons to facilitate logistics decision making.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or above) in Industrial Engineering, Logistics Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
  • Prior knowledge or experience working with Simulation software – Flexsim, Plant Simulation, Anylogic.
  • Ability to understand and analyze large chunks of raw equipment data and calculate important KPIs.
  • Natural ability to speak and write effectively at all organizational levels.
  • A passion to work in a fast-paced environment and efficiently deliver effective results.

Internship, Manufacturing Automation Controls Engineering – USA

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Automation Controls Engineer for our manufacturing facilities in Austin, Reno, and Fremont. The Powertrain Manufacturing Controls team delivers new manufacturing lines to produce new battery packs, drive units and energy products. As an intern, you will work under the guidance of a controls engineer to design and implement machine program functionality on these lines. Join our team to build the machines producing world-leading products and accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.

Job Description:

  • Program PLCs using ladder logic and structured text (Siemens and Beckhoff)
  • Program machinery for material pick-and-place, fastening, dispensing, conveyance, etc.
  • Interface machinery with MES and reports results to quality databases
  • Create intuitive operator touchscreen interfaces (WinCC, Ignition, TwinCAT HMI)
  • Program vision cameras for inspection and 2D/3D machinery guidance (Cognex, Keyence)
  • Program and interface to industrial 6-axis robots (Fanuc)

Qualification:

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Superb computer skills and demonstrated programming proficiency
  • Previous internship, academic or hobbyist experience in mechatronics is an asset
  • Hands-on experience fixing and troubleshooting things
  • Familiar with common hand tools and diagnostic tools such as multimeters
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing to work extended hours as necessary

Structural Design Engineering Internship (m/w/d) – Europe 

Job Description:

  • Support various aspects of structural design, including drawing production and design calculations for buildings, equipment foundations, utility supports, and other site infrastructure
  • Review site preparation plans, soil geotechnical survey, andother construction packages
  • Review and feedback basic and detail design drawings and specifications completed by consultants or vendors
  • Provide cost estimate and procurement technical support
  • Review Architecture, HVAC, water and supply and drainage, design development and drawings
  • Participate as a team member, contributing ideas and possible solutions, and leading on issues where appropriate

Qualification:

  • Pursuing a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • C1 level in English and ideally also in German
  • Previous internship experience related to design of building high-tech infrastructure, industrial or operational facilities (semiconductor, solar, battery, etc.)
  • Experience with a campus of buildings preferred
  • Working knowledge of German building codes and structural design standards
  • Ability to produce design drawings, specifications, reports, and other project deliverables under supervision of senior engineers
  • Proficient in the use of structural analysis software
  • Functional capabilities in Revit and AutoCAD,PKPM series & other structure calculation software
  • Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines in a design team environment
  • Basic understanding of the multi-disciplinary process of building design and delivery, with an
  • understanding of the structural deliverables and coordination required with other disciplines
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work in an extremely fast-paced environment
