Analyzer Engineer
Job Description:
Develop understanding of refining, aromatics, olefins/ethylene, chemical specialties, or polyethylene plant processes; able to discriminate between analyzer and sampling system problems/opportunities and process issues.
Provide leadership in the continuous improvement of process analyzer quality systems; champion process analyzer online product certification.
Support on-stream process analyzer and sampling systems design, installation, and commissioning associated with major projects.
Develop and implement new analyzer applications for use in advanced process control and other plant operating needs, i.e., feedstock qualification, product quality certification, and environmental compliance.
Interface with diverse groups including vendors, analyzer technicians, process operations and console technicians, process designers, and process computer control engineers.
Provide daily technical expertise to Operations and Maintenance departments relative to support of process analyzer systems, including troubleshooting persistent problems, reliability upgrades, project support, maintenance, and operations procedure development.
Function as quality control to ensure that analyzer projects meet corporate and site requirements and specifications.
Job Requirements
PhD or MS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is preferred. BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering is acceptable.
Inherent understanding of physics and chemistry is required especially in regards to gas and fluid dynamics.
Experienced working on analytical instrumentation.
Understanding of integrated analyzer systems and knowledge of many different types of process analyzer measurements.
Understanding of basic refinery and/or chemical plant operations and hands on approach to design and problem solving.
Proficient in the use of computer software.
Ability to work closely with team; excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
