This is a 24-month Researcher role designed to give you experience working on challenging problems together with Google Research scientists and engineers in India before pursuing (or making a decision on pursuing) doctoral research.
As a Researcher, you will collaborate with researchers, scientists, and engineers at Google Research working on fundamental research and applied problems in a wide range of areas in Computing. You will have a range of opportunities from conducting fundamental research to contributing to products and services and conducting research that contributes to human-centered AI and catalyzes AI for Social Good. We encourage our Researchers to publish their work externally.
Job Responsibilities:
Work with research mentors to formulate research projects or applications of machine learning.
Conduct research and publish it.
Implement algorithms, experiments, or human-computer interfaces using frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow).
Learn and understand research in machine learning algorithms.
Understand how to use research to drive design decisions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, etc.) or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages: Python, C/C++, Java, etc.
Research experience in machine learning or AI techniques (e.g., open source project, campus lab experience, research internship, publication, etc.).

Qualitative User Experience Researcher, Early Career 2024, USA
Job Description:
As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you’ll help your team of UXers, product managers, and engineers understand user needs. You’ll work with stakeholders across functions and levels and have impact at all stages of product development. You’ll play a critical role in creating useful, usable, and delightful products. You’ll explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, participatory workshops, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis.
You’ll have the opportunity to work with and learn from UXRs across Google through regular meetups, mentor programs, and access to internal research tools.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct research on multiple aspects of products and collect/analyze user behavior through lab studies, field visits, ethnography, surveys, benchmark studies, server logs, and online experiments.
Work cross-functionally with design, engineering, and product management teams to make data-driven decisions.
Design and conduct independent research using a variety of qualitative research methods, utilizing quantitative methods when necessary.
Ensure communication of research findings and advocate findings outside of the project team.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Information Science, Statistics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
