Instrumentation Maintenance Specialist – Canada

Job Description:

Reporting to the Reliability Manager, the Instrumentation Maintenance Specialist plays a key role in maximizing the reliability of production, regulatory-based, safety instrumented systems.

Provides day-to-day technical support to the maintenance execution process – troubleshooting, planning, coordination, and execution – for a range of instrumentation activities.

Provides direction and support to the site instrumentation care plans and continuous improvement efforts.

Strong understanding of the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of instrumentation, with a focus on effective and efficient delivery.

Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Must have an Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology (ICET) Diploma (or equivalent/greater education).

Knowledge of key areas of instrumentation technology, including flow, level, temperature, pressure, control valves and analyzers.

Knowledge of safe instrumentation practices and procedures, and appropriate codes.

Broad exposure in refinery operations and maintenance, with a minimum 10-years relevant experience in the instrumentation and control discipline.

Ability to self-manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have relevant experience in a unionized work environment. Must be cognizant of the roles that each skilled trade performs and how they correlate.

Must have familiarity with the Projects and Management of Change work processes.

Operations Maintenance Coordinator – Thailand

Primary focus is the interface between Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and HSSE, to execute the maintenance work process effectively and safely. Responsible for oversight of execution of the Maintenance Work Process (CMMS).

The main responsibilities of the OMC are to review and define the maintenance work request. This is such that the work requests are prioritized correctly and can be carried out safely and on time. This position will report to Facilities Support Lead.

Qualification:

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related disciplines.

At least 3-5 years of engineering-related experiences.

Demonstrated ability to analyse problems/troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Systematically determine the root cause(s) of problems through questioning and inspecting, and then identify the best course of action to take.

Ability to quickly and accurately compare similarities and differences to optimize or detect abnormal conditions within the process.

Experience with GSAP, HAZOPs, MOC’s, Incident Investigations, and Job Safety Analysis is a plus but not a must-have.

Experience in construction industry or site safety is a plus.

Experience in contract management and site work supervision/management is a plus.

Good commercial mindset and proactively seeking opportunities to reduce maintenance cost (i.e.

Maximize work activities per contractor per location and area, etc.).

Software Engineer – United Kingdom

As the Software Engineer, you will work on one of Shell’s premier software development projects, enhancing Shell’s trading capabilities. This exciting role will involve actively participating in the development of multiple components, including order placement, routing and management, connectivity to exchanges, pricing, integration with internal systems, and other functions. The platform has been developed mainly using C++.

In addition, your role requires solid and practical experience in developing robust components for multi-process, event-driven systems. The primary coding language is C++, while some knowledge and exposure to Python are desirable.

Qualification:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field

Experience developing in at least one object-oriented programming language

Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), build systems, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines

Knowledge of other programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) and software development tools is a plus

Ability to translate business needs into functional code

Experience with software development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum

Understanding of Programming, Systems Design

Control Systems Specialist – Canada

As a Systems Engineer/Technologist, you will be responsible for hands-on technical support and maintenance of digital systems, computer and electronic systems, and communications systems within the site. This includes DCS (Distributed Control Systems), SIS (Safety Instrumented Systems), PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), hardwired and fiber optic networks and switches, alarm systems, tank gauging systems, vibration monitoring systems, security systems, and other industrial automation systems.

Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma

Eligible for Professional status from APEGA as a P.Eng. or P.L.(Eng)

Familiarity with maintenance practices, project scope development, turnaround, and long-term planning

Control Systems Engineer – Louisiana

Shell is seeking a Sr. Control Systems Engineer for a position in Port Allen.

This role provides control systems and Automation support for manufacturing operations of the Shell Catalysts & Technologies Port Allen, LA facility. The role includes support of the existing Yokogawa distributed control system (DCS) and Yokogawa Prosafe (SIS) as well as conceptual design, detail design, execution, and startup support of capital projects. The Automation Engineer has a functional working knowledge of control systems applications and hardware, digital systems, process operations, operational goals, instrumentation, ESP variables, key quality specifications for feeds and products, impact on the environment, and major economic variables and how they impact site profitability.

STR Operations Development Program – Netherlands

The STR Operations Development Program (SoDP) is a traineeship opportunity for individuals who are interested in becoming future commercial operators within Shell. The duration of the program is two years during which you get the opportunity to experience various positions within the fields of Trading Operations. The traineeship aims to develop you to be a good operator which means that once traders get the ‘trade’ in, operators need to guide their distribution in the right direction. You will be the first contact for the ports worldwide, the Traders, the customs and internal contacts.

During the traineeship you will learn a lot of different aspects related to Trading & Supply Operations. For example:
