Software Engineering Intern – University Students – New York City, San Francisco

Our internship program gives a group of undergraduate students and eligible graduate students first-hand experience with product development at McKinsey. You will participate in an introductory training program, as well as a range of social activities to get to know your office and the firm. You will fully immerse yourself with a team of developers, designers and agile coaches to transform our client’s technical processes, infrastructure and end-user applications.
Job Description:
You will develop technology applications and contribute to building out a common platform to accelerate product development with reusable core components across infrastructure, platform, services and front-end technologies.
Qualification:
University student in a computer science, engineering or equivalent program with expected graduation date of December 2023 – May 2024 or master’s degree student completing your first year in a non-business, 2-year master’s program with less than 2 years of work experience
Working knowledge of fundamental CS concepts
Hands-on experience in any of the following technologies: Java, C#/.NET, Python, JavaScript, or Ruby on Rails
Experience in SQL or no-SQL databases
Knowledge of current web technologies (e.g., HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript),
Experience with Node, React and Javascript MVC frameworks (e.g., Angular JS, Backbone, etc.) is a plus
Experience with RESTful APIs, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), writing automates tests or container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with the ability to develop creative and efficient solutions
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively with people at all levels in an organization
Strong command of the English language (both verbal and written)
Willing to travel up to 80% (for roles in McKinsey Digital Labs only); travel for roles in our Cube Tech team is 0-20%
