Research Engineer
Job Description:
The role of the Advanced Engineering Engineer is to work at the interface between the battery systems engineering team and electrochemistry. To understand the influence of engineering factors on electrochemical performance and vice versa. The Advanced Engineering team are research, experimentation and development of new components, devices and other new, unique and difficult technology for next generation battery systems.
Provide technical expertise, using battery engineering knowledge and understanding of materialperformance to investigate new or alternative technologies; such as thermal cooling, joining methods, interface material and conductivity, for new product introduction projects.
Perform and develop new testing methods for improving understanding and knowledge of physical properties on cells; such as pressure and vibration.
Participate within team of electrochemistry engineers, and technicians to support and improve characterisation of Li-ion cell and module technology.
Support R&D projects in order to deliver against agreed budget, time and scope parameters.
Write technical reports and participate in review meetings.
Qualifications
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
Experience Required
Experience or research in the field of Li-ion batteries.
Strong knowledge of and understanding of material specifications, and utilisation of these to improve Li-ion testing and performance.
