The steel industry contributes to nearly 7% of the total greenhouse gas emissions in the Netherlands. At Tata Steel IJmuiden, we are committed to reducing our CO2 emissions with 35 – 40% by 2030 and being CO2-neutral by 2045. To meet the target, we are exploring various options to reduce our CO2 emissions. One of the options is to capture CO2 from the steel plant’s works arising gases using pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technique.

Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description:
We’re looking for someone to organise and control the engineering of all mechanical equipment, primarily in on the Zodiac line, but in other areas as required. We’ll want you to be organising, planning and maintaining our assets on both a planned and emergency basis inline with production requirements.
In addition:
Approve and recommend modifications in design, installation and commissioning of plant equipment in order to optimise plant efficiency and productivity
Prepare and manage detailed planned maintenance programmes to ensure minimisation of downtime and breakdowns
Carry out analysis and examination of faults and breakdowns and take remedial action
Supervise the day craft and contractors in the area, passing on technical knowledge and developing expertise by working collaboratively
Contribute to the success of down days through effective maintenance planning, arranging and supervising contract labour and issuing permits when required for relevant tasks to be carried out in the area
Qualification:
You’ll ideally be educated to degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, ideally with an IOSH certificate. However if you have a HNC/relevant plant experience you will also be considered for this position.

Mechanical Technical Maintenance Engineer

Job Description:
We’re looking for someone to direct and control Engineering Craft and supplementary contractors in their support of manufacturing, site service and site operational support engineering. You’ll be expected to perform preventative maintenance and inspection work to professional standards as required to meet process safety, quality control and performance standards.
Management Systems; ensuring all activity is undertaken in compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements such as reporting Hazards, raising Tz’s and completing SMATs
Ensure compliance with the company’s and legislative requirements such as Process Safety, Statutory & PUWER
Underpin manufacturing performance and support manufacturing Improvement and works development plans
Identify the requirements and develop plans for the training and development of staff. Ensure where appropriate, records are maintained and available for the ‘competent authority’
Identify improvement opportunities through collaborative working with relevant groups
To ensure that changes to plant, process procedures and organisation are appropriately risk accessed in line with the works management of change process
Qualification:
The successful candidate will be expected to provide expertise and resource to identify and quickly rectify faults in complex system to ensure continuity of manufacturing to specified quality standards.
You will have sufficient relevant experience as well as ideally being qualified to HNC level or a graduate engineer.
It is essential that you are comfortable and capable supervising personnel in the safe execution of engineering work, previous experience in heavy industry would be preferred for this position.

Mechanical Asset Improvement Engineer
Job Description:
You’ll be responsible for engineering systems adherence and maintenance activities and asset improvement within the Manufacturing Engineering function to support Shotton process lines and auxiliary plant.
In addition, you’ll need to help deliver the Annual Operating Plan in respect of Health and Safety, and provide information, as required, to ensure targets are in control.
The Responsibilities:
Have an Involvement with deploying asset enhancing initiatives overarching all process lines and auxiliary plant.
Complying with all required company safety protocols, safety legislation, whilst also ensuring legal compliance of plant such as emissions limits.
Major Maintenance involvement with regards to plant reliability critical projects, which can include key infrastructure repairs to plant.
Ensure that services provided are technically sound and employ World Best practices in order to maintain a high standard.
To effectively liaise with Shotton user departments at all levels and functional managers, when required.
Carry out Asset Improvement projects aligning with planning departments, Operational Line department engineers to ensure the projects are agreed to and carried out in a timely functional manner.
Manage a team for deployment and installation of IoT Technology to allow the creation of online dashboards for information purposes.
Create and assist in the creation of a new online monitoring system inventing dashboard and system practices.
Be able to manage technological and large scale projects from start to finish and liaise with external companies in regards to completing asset development tasks.
Qualification:
We want someone that can be flexible with their role, with excellent team working and leadership skills. Experience in Industrial Engineering is desirable along with possession of relevant qualifications of Degree level or higher (Not required if suitable experience can be shown).

Mechanical Team Member

Job Description:
We’re looking for a Mechanical Team Member to join our Operations team based at the 20” Pipe Mill at our Hartlepool site. You will provide first-line technical expertise to manufacturing areas to ensure maximum availability of mechanical equipment within the 20” Mill. Working on a 20-rota shift pattern of work.
Firstly, we’ll want you to conduct all aspects of the job in a safe manner and adhere to statutory and mandatory safety regulations, procedures and policies. You will execute planned maintenance tasks effectively, working through the task schedule in order of priority.
As part of the role, the Mechanical Team Member will be responsible for suggesting and implementing improvements to process control systems, ensuring that any deficiencies found are repaired expediently and that repairs are robust enough to prevent a recurrence. You will provide first line technical expertise and assistance to the Manufacturing areas to minimise plant downtime.
Eligibility Criteria:
The Mechanical Team Member must have a mechanical apprenticeship, ideally gained in an industrial environment and also have experience of working effectively within a team. You should have a systematic problem solving approach (accurate problem description, ability to rank potential causes in order and communicate next step activities).
It is essential that the Mechanical Team Member is an excellent communicator, with good interpersonal skills and an ability to articulate efficiently with a range of individuals on site. Computer literacy is also fundamental to the success of the role.
