As a Display BigData DevOps Engineer intern, you will be responsible for transitioning a fundamental / localized DBMS which the team has outgrown, into cutting edge Big Data and/or cloud-based DBMS in order to support exponential growth in both demand for data-accessing and amount of data generated from within the Display Technology Operation organizations.

Job Description:
Review, analyze and fine-tune performances on current DBMS setup
Explore available cloud-based DBMS infrastructure both from within Apple and external of Apple
Host meetings to understand data end-user requirements on contents to be hosted
Propose transition plans to upgrade current DBMS to a more scalable solution
Expected metrics to be evaluated upon success of project:
Improved end-user experiences in data query speed (either via live connection or data extract)
Increase overall stability of the DBMS
Secure or implemented failover mechanisms to provide redundancies in case of DBMS failures
Key Qualifications
Creative problem solving experience
Working knowledge of database migration to cloud such as AWS
Provide hardware architectural guidance, planning, estimating cluster capacity, and creating roadmap
Knowledge of BigData technologies (Hadoop, HBase, Spark, Kafka) is preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Education & Experience
Pursuing a BS/MS in Computer Science or related field. To qualify for Apple’s internship program, candidates must be enrolled in school and must return to school at the completion of their internship. You also qualify if accepted into a graduate program after graduation.
