Graduate Mechanical Engineer
An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join Bechtel’s Mining & Metals team in Perth, Western Australia. With a strong pipeline of projects ranging from front end development studies to full EPCM project execution now is truly the right time to join this innovative multi-discipline team and play a key role in driving success.
Reporting to the Lead Mechanical Engineer your responsibilities will include:
Undertaking mechanical calculations; including but not limited to conveyor calculations, process equipment sizing calculations and piping/pumping head loss and flow calculations.
Selection of appropriate mechanical equipment; including materials handling, pumping and minerals processing equipment.
Mechanical design and overall system design and development.
Preparing mechanical datasheets, specifications and/or material requisitions.
Assisting with bid technical evaluations and supplier document reviews.
Preparing and/or assisting in the preparation of cost estimates and quantity take-offs.
Performing conceptual designs, studies, reports and proposals.
Peer review and checking of design, drawings and data by other engineers or suppliers.
Answers questions from client or construction group on mechanical scope items.
Supporting the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
Complying with and promoting Bechtel (and client’s) safety in design procedures to ensure that the asset delivered by Bechtel can be operated and maintained safely.
To be considered for the Graduate Mechanical Engineer role, you will possess the following skills and experience:
A recognized degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
Experience in the mining and metals industry including materials handling, minerals processing and mine site water supply and distribution preferred.
Demonstrated technical capabilities in front end engineering studies preferred.
Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures and codes relevant to mechanical engineering.
Knowledge of technical responsibilities of other discipline teams associated with the total design effort.
Previous experience working in a multiple discipline project team.
