CareerForFreshers Career Advice
Starting your career through a graduate development program can give you an opportunity to build both technical and professional skills. GE Vernova’s early-career programs emphasize functional training, challenging assignments and development within specific business areas.
1. Build Strong Fundamentals
Freshers should focus on core concepts related to their degree and target role. Engineering candidates should revise subjects relevant to the position, while technology candidates should strengthen programming, databases, cloud or other role-specific skills.
2. Highlight Projects on Your Resume
Do not simply list college projects. Explain the problem, your contribution, technologies or tools used, and the outcome. This helps recruiters understand your practical capabilities.
3. Prepare for Role-Specific Interviews
Study the job description carefully and prepare questions related to the technical requirements. Be ready to explain your academic projects, internships, technical skills and problem-solving approach.
4. Develop Industry-Relevant Skills
GE Vernova’s early-career opportunities span areas such as engineering and technology, manufacturing, digital technology, finance, project management and supply chain.
Freshers should therefore build skills that match their intended career path rather than trying to learn every technology.
5. Improve Communication Skills
Technical knowledge is important, but fresh graduates should also be able to clearly explain their projects, decisions and problem-solving approach. Practice introducing yourself and explaining technical topics in simple language.
6. Think Beyond Your First Job
A graduate program can be a starting point for building expertise. Focus on learning from assignments, developing domain knowledge, seeking feedback and gradually taking ownership of larger responsibilities.
