Accountant – Transactional Tax
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Prepare sales and use tax compliance. Ensure timely and accurate gathering, analysis, reconciliation, preparation, reporting, payment, and compliance of all Turner and its affiliates’ sales and use tax filings, Canadian GST/HST/PST tax filings and property tax filings.
Assist in all administrative or operational issues affecting sales and use tax function of company and domestic and Canadian subsidiaries.
Interact and develop relationships with business unit staff to facilitate tax compliance and reporting and analyze tax impact of business decisions.
Conduct tax research and prepare memos to document conclusions.
Understand increasingly complex sales and use tax concepts and effectively apply that knowledge to help solve tax related questions that come up in business units for all Turner domestic and Canadian companies.
Oversee maintenance and functionality of company’s Sabrix Sales/Use Tax Solution.
Responsible for responding to tax authorities in connection with tax positions.
Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required and 3 years of experience in sales & use taxation, current CPA credentials and Masters of Tax Degree a plus
Excellent knowledge of Accounting Principles to ensure timely and accurate reporting
High degree of organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
Must have strong proficiency with financial system applications and MS Office, specifically Excel and Word
Must have very good working knowledge of Sabrix Sales/Use Tax Solution required
Must be self-starter, operates with minimal direction and little or no supervision
Exercise independent judgment and discretion with ability to identify problems and make recommendations for resolution
Demonstrated leadership, strong dedication to teamwork and integrity within professional environment
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Some travel required
