Infosys Plan to Hire 500 Google-certified Graduates

IT Major, Infosys has announced to hire 500 people with Google Career Certificates in the US in areas including Data Analytics over the next two years rather than their degree.

Google has set up three new online courses in user experience design, project management, and data analytics—and 100,000 need-based scholarships to go with them—to its Career Certificates program. The intent is to equip Texas’ workforce with new skills and resources needed to land a job in today’s everchanging economy.

The certificate courses come at a time when, according to the World Economic Forum, 50 percent of all employees need to be reskilled by 2025. The newly introduced courses, all designed and taught by Google employees, aim to do that, They focus on user experience (UX) design, project management, and data analytics, chosen by Google because of the “demonstrable demand for workers” in the related fields.

Ravi Kumar, president of Infosys, said in a statement, “We’re excited to join Grow with Google and commit to hiring 500 Career Certificate graduates over the next two years with support from Merit America.”

“The commitment builds on our Reskill and Restart initiative to train individuals for skilled careers at Infosys,” he said. “Our partnership with Google will further ensure that our talent pool reflects the diversity of the country and the communities in which we operate as we seek to fulfill our commitment to hiring 25,000 workers in the U.S. by 2022.” He added.

This will be done in partnership with Merit America, an organization that helps people without bachelor degree get jobs.

Accenture and Cognizant are other IT firms that will be hiring people based on Google Career Certificates in the US. Infosys is among the 130 employers in the US who will hire people with these certificates that offer programs in four areas – Data Analytics, Project Management, and User Experience (UX) Design and Associate Android Developer Certification, which prepares learners for entry-level jobs in Android development.
