“Worked on improving the company’s reporting process.”
Use:
“Redesigned the monthly reporting workflow, reducing preparation time and improving management visibility.”
The second version explains action + outcome.
Resume Checklist
- Keep the format clean.
- Prioritize measurable achievements.

- Highlight leadership and ownership.
- Include important technical skills.
- Remove unrelated information.
- Check grammar carefully.

- Updated resume/CV
- Academic details
- Degree certificates
- Marksheets/transcripts

Career Growth
McKinsey offers several career pathways depending on the candidate’s background.
A consulting career can develop through roles with increasing responsibility, while technology, operations and internal functions have their own progression structures.
A simplified example is:
Graduate/Entry Level → Professional → Senior Professional → Manager/Leadership → Senior Leadership
The actual title structure and progression depend on the career path, office and role.
McKinsey states that experienced professionals can specialize, explore new areas or change career direction as their interests develop.
Value-Adding Career Advice
Don’t Apply to Every McKinsey Job
McKinsey has opportunities across consulting, technology, operations and internal functions. Applying indiscriminately can make your job search less focused.
Choose roles where your:
Education + Experience + Skills + Career Goal
match the vacancy.
Build a Problem-Solving Profile
Whether you are a fresher or experienced professional, demonstrate how you approach difficult problems.
Use the structure:
Problem → Analysis → Action → Result
Engineers Can Consider More Than Engineering Roles
An engineering degree does not necessarily restrict you to traditional engineering jobs. Depending on your skills, you can explore consulting, operations, digital, technology, analytics and other relevant positions.
Experienced Candidates Should Quantify Impact
Instead of writing only what you were responsible for, explain:
Revenue increased by how much?
Cost reduced by how much?
Process improved by how much?
Team size managed?
Project delivered in how much time?
Customer or business impact?
Freshers Should Use Projects as Evidence
If you have no professional experience, academic projects, internships, competitions, leadership activities and personal projects can demonstrate your ability to solve problems and work with others.
