Costing Engineer /VAVE Engineer -Sheet metal/Plastics

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Should Costing Engineer to develop and manage cost models for mechanical components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in manufacturing processes and cost estimation, with a strong ability to collaborate across engineering, sourcing, and supplier teams.
Job Responsibilities
Domain Knowledge: Telecom-Networking / Semiconductor/ Consumer Electronics, High volume manufacturing/ Automotive/ Heavy Engineering etc.
1 to 8 years of experience in mechanical costing, manufacturing engineering, or supplier development.
Experience in product development, cost modeling, and supplier engagement.
Creating detailed should cost models for mechanical commodities including sheet metal, plastic, die-casting, and machined parts.
Analyze CAD models and BOMs to extract dimensional data and material specifications using tools like Creo and SolidWorks
Estimate material costs, primary and secondary process costs, and overheads for each component.
Identify and describe optimized manufacturing processes such as blanking, piercing, embossing, bending, machining, powder coating, anodizing, welding, and inspection.
Collaborate with commodity managers and purchasing teams to support supplier negotiations and cost gap analysis.
Participate in VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) and benchmarking exercises to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Document and present cost breakdowns including raw material, labor, machine hour rate (MHR), setter cost, profit margins, and inventory carrying costs
Support design optimization efforts by evaluating alternative materials and manufacturing methods (e.g., switching from aluminum to sheet metal for cost efficiency)
