Entry Level Mining/Civil Engineer – Kiewit Mining Group

Responsibilities
Kiewit Mining Group is looking for entry level Mining/Civil Engineers wanting to make a career working at our surface mining operations within North America. This position will be responsible for the short-range mine planning, design and estimating as well as developing and assisting in the creation of the annual budgets. The Mining/Civil Engineer will also be proficient with verbal, written and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization as well as possess excellent planning, time organization and problem-solving skills.




•Relocation to mining sites or short-term assignment travel will be required for this position
•Understand and follow all federal, state, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements
•Long/short range mining planning, design, and budgeting
•Establish and maintain communications between all levels of supervision and management
•Perform engineering tasks requiring standard techniques and handling minor problems of a technical nature arising during mining operation
•Short-range mine planning involving dragline design, truck-shovel design, regrade design and estimating




•Integrate plans with short and mid-range mine plans
•Develop and assist in annual budgets including cost and financial analysis
•Assist in regulatory permitting
•Investigate problems and/or reported incidents; identify and recommend solutions/alternatives as appropriate
•Perform all other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements
Working outdoors and being exposed to both heat and cold are required for this role. Lifting up to 20 pounds unassisted is also required.




Requirements
•Undergraduate degree in mining engineering, civil engineering, or a related degree
•Broad knowledge and ability to understand project scheduling and cost control, and to read and understand project owner specifications and engineering drawings
•Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office. Familiarity with SureTrak, Hard Dollar, Revit, SAP, Pro Log and/or Primavera “P6” is preferred
•Must be willing to relocate for the first assignment and throughout a career as we operate on project/work need basis
•Interest in and passion for water/wastewater management, desalination plants, or water treatment construction




•Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt (OSHA certification preferred)
•Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
•Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
•Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
•Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done. This position will require more than 40 hours/week.
•The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates, environment, and terrain
