Job Description:

Our team is comprised of varying levels of experience and backgrounds, from new grads to industry veterans. Relevant industry experience is important (Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Systems Engineer, Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Network Engineer, Systems Administrator, Linux Administrator, Database Administrator or similar role), but ultimately less so than your demonstrated abilities and attitude. Job Responsibilities:

Own back-end services like our internal server configuration management system and Chef
Collaborate with partner infrastructure teams and front-end services teams like WhatsApp, and everything in between
Write and review code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the hardest problems, live, on some of the largest and most complex systems in the world
Together with your engineering team, you will share an on-call rotation
Partnered alongside the best engineers in the industry on the coolest stuff around, the code and systems you work on will be in production and used by millions of users all around the world

Qualifications:

Engineering degree, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience
Experience coding in higher-level languages (e.g., PHP, Python, C++, or Java)
Experience in configuration and maintenance of applications such as web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems and messaging systems
Knowledge of linux OS fundamentals, memory management and kernel
Experience learning software, frameworks and APIs

Research Engineer – Pilots Team – USA

Job Description:

We are looking for exceptional Research Engineers who are excited about fast building and prototyping complex capture systems, as well as processing the capture data through large-scale pipelines. You will act as a bridge between world-class researchers and engineers, collaborating together on the innovation necessary to build the foundations of social presence technology. At our lab, you will be exposed to facilities, algorithms, and data that are years ahead of anything else in existence today. Job Responsibilities

Prototype and quickly develop complex multimodal capture systems for cutting-edge technology related avatars, 3D audio and 3D environments.
Process large-scale data, including the calibration and registration of multimodal data and vision-based tracking algorithms.
Operate and build complex data pipelines at scale such that data can be moved effectively across data centers.
Collaborate with other researchers and engineers across both machine and human perception teams at Meta to develop experiments, prototypes, and concepts that advance the state-of-the-art in AR/VR systems.
Work with the team to help design, setup, and run practical experiments and prototype systems related to large-scale long-duration sensing and machine reasoning.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Has a BS, MS degree in Computer Science or related field
Demonstrated experience in C++.
Demonstrated experience with Python or other scripting languages.
Demonstrated experience managing and operating computers in Linux environments.
Experience in developing software related to the robotics field (sensors, kinematics, computer vision) and integration of hardware components into a complex pipeline.
Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
Understanding of computer science fundamentals: algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, computer networks, and databases.
Experience working independently, handling concurrent projects where timelines may be ambiguous or changing, and prioritizing team roadmap and deliverables by balancing required effort with resulting impact
Experience with early-stage research and rapid prototype practices
Experience in working with cross-functional teams
1+ years of experience from a related industry or related graduate school lab research

Preferred:

Experience with real world system building and data collection, including design, coding and evaluation (C++/Python).
