Technologist (Spectroscopy Laboratory)- GB

Job Description:
The purpose of the role is to ensure equipment reliability and efficiency is optimised through a continuous improvement culture, and that all testing is carried out on calibrated equipment, ensuring that the area retains its ability to fulfil its customer service commitments.

To carry out this role successfully, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Operate to ensure compliance with Tata Health And Safety policy, leading & participating in the development & deployment of safety systems, proactively reporting safety issues, whilst also actively addressing safety issues and encouraging others to work safely.
Support & develop the utilisation of FMEA’s & control plans in order to ensure continuity of service and eliminate outages
Deliver technical & problem solving support to operations and development projects , following daily management principles
Keep abreast of developments in physical testing and sampling procedures and equipment and continually examine ways of improving the effectiveness of the laboratory services provided, particularly in the areas of cost, accuracy, response time and automation
Carry out regular 1-1s with area Lead Technician and ensure RTW interviews are carried out in a timely manner, following HR policy where appropriate.

Qualification:
We are looking for applicants who hold a HNC (or equivalent) in Chemistry or Engineering discipline, or have 5 years’ experience in a chemistry laboratory. The Technologist will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to build close working relationships with customers.

You will have a track record in delivering continuous improvement (using CI tools) and have an understanding of the methods used in the chemistry testing of iron, steel & slag in the steel manufacturing industry.
