BNY Recruitment Process

Get a sense of what to expect as you apply and proceed through our recruiting process. The process may vary depending on the position or program.

The BNY hiring process typically takes 2 to 4 weeks and consists of 4 main stages: online application, a recruiter phone screen, technical/skills assessments, and behavioral/team interviews.

1. Submit Online Application

2. Application Review & Phone Screen

During the phone interview, we will brief you on our recruitment process and will go into further detail on the position you have applied for. We will ask you various questions around your experience and knowledge of the English language. The call should take approximately 15 minutes.

If your profile is a match, a talent acquisition team member will contact you for a brief phone screen. This 15-to-30 minute call covers your past experience, career goals, English proficiency, and compensation expectations.

3. Technical Assessment (For Tech/Engineering Roles)

Candidates often complete a preliminary online assessment hosted on platforms like Hacker Rank. This usually consists of 3 to 4 Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) questions of varying difficulty to be completed in about 90 minutes.

Analytical tests are an additional stage of our recruitment process and are required for some of our positions. The recruitment team will invite you to this stage if applicable.

4. Interviews

The face to face recruitment interview is the most important element of the process.
You will be invited to one of our offices to meet with the hiring manager who will go into further details about the role. You will also be told about the development opportunities within BNY
This is a good opportunity for you to demonstrate and explain how your skills align to the position.

You will typically go through 1 to 3 rounds of live virtual or in-person interviews:

• Technical Rounds: Focus on coding, DSA, system design, and deep dives into your previous projects.
• Behavioral / Team Round: Focus on company culture, BNY expectations, and past experiences (often utilizing the STAR method).

Offer Stage

• If both parties are interested, HR will extend an offer and begin pre-employment background checks.
• To better understand what interviewers are looking for during the live technical rounds
